The Co-operative City Bank has started its journey since 1981. The Conference Hall of Assam Co-operative Apex Bank Building has experienced a meeting under the presidentship of Sri Rama Baruah on 22nd March 1980. Twenty-two persons who were in the meeting had an in-depth discussion about the need for an urban co-operative bank in Guwahati to help the financial needs of the common mass. The outcome was fruitful as The Co-operative City Bank Ltd was formed with its registered office at Silpukhuri, Guwahati-3. The Bank was under the Assam Co-operative Societies Act, 1949 on 23rd September 1980. The Bank has shifted to its spacious building at U.N. Bezbaruah Road, Silpukhri, Guwahati-3 on 5th November 1990. It was only nine years from the start.
