With a vision to extend banking services for the lower and middle-class people of Bangalore city, Late Sri. T.R. Shamanna and Late Sri. Y.V. Keshavamurthy with few other distinguished personalities decided to establish a bank. Late Sri. T.R. Shamanna was an eminent politician. The management focus was to be an ethically based and efficiently managed UCB and extend banking facilities to ordinary people more and also strengthening the banking sector by introducing innovative banking products and technology. On the day of registration, there were 2000 members with a paid-up share capital of 2 lakhs. Presently there are more than 30000 shareholders with a paid-up share capital of over 24 crores and customer base of more than two lakhs. The Bank is the largest UCB in Karnataka.
