The Eastern and North-East Frontier Railway Cooperative Bank was formed in 1914. The main office of the Bank is situated in Sealdah, beside the Railway Training Institute. The Bank had one of its Branch in Chattogram, East Pakistan erstwhile, now Bangladesh. The Bank covered the rail parts from the Liluah workshop to Mokama and Barauni. The Bank faced a question of existence in 1950 when the country was divided, and Pakistan was forming. However, the efficient staff and the incredible managerial body members have avoided the liquidation, and they managed to place the Bank right back in the path of growth. It then started performing slowly but efficiently, and now it has become one of the best urban cooperative Bank of India. This Bank presently is a tier II of Urban Co-op banks of West Bengal, and this has been earned by a few of the banks so far.
