The Co-Operative movement was first started in Ethiopia in 1371. Co-Operative farming in Ethiopia nurtured the idea of co-operative societies and benefits. In 1905 India’s first co-operative society was established in the district of Gadag. Almost walking on the same footsteps, the Sri Ganapathi Co-operative Bank Ltd. was formed on 20th July, 1915 by Sri. Jaharuddin Mathew. Sri. B. Raghavachar was elected the president of the Bank.
