West Bengal State Co Operative Bank IFSC Code, MICR Code and SWIFT Code

The roots of West Bengal State Cooperative Bank are in the pre-independence era. The bank has developed and grown over the years to become a crucial part of the Indian banking network. Make use of the West Bengal State Cooperative Bank IFSC Code to complete online money transfers through your account.

The Indian banking system relies on unique codes allotted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to every bank branch in the country. The codes facilitate and streamline online fund transfers between two bank accounts located in any state, district, or city.

Online money transferring methods like NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS require the IFSC code of a bank to verify and complete the transaction. In this article, we'll learn what IFSC and MICR codes are, how to find them, and ways to use net banking for wire transfers.

WBSTCB was converted from a Federation to a bank in 1923. WBSTCB has its headquarters in Waterloo, Kolkata, with three real branches in North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, and Coochbehar, managing and coordinating with other branches in their regions.

West Bengal State Cooperative Bank (WBSTCB) IFSC Code

The Indian Financial System Code (IFSC) is a unique 11-character coding system developed by RBI to recognize and identify all bank branches in India. The IFSC code is used when transferring funds online from one bank account to another.

The IFSC code consists of three parts. The first four characters are alphabets and denote the bank code. The fifth character is a zero (0). The last six characters indicate the branch code and can be alphabets or numbers.

For example, West Bengal State Cooperative Bank VIP Market branch, Kolkata IFSC Code is WBSC0000005. It is also known as the Beliaghata Branch.

Here,

  • WBSC is the bank code for West Bengal State Cooperative Bank and is followed by zero (0)
  • 000005 is the branch code for the Beliaghata branch.

What does the IFSC code actually do? It initiates the process of sending funds online to other bank accounts. You need to enter the correct bank account number and IFSC code of the beneficiary's bank to send money to their account through the internet.

The account details are identified based on the IFSC code and account number. Entering wrong information can affect the transaction in two ways. The amount might be credited to another person, or the transaction might fail. A failed transaction is less complicated as the money will be deposited into your account in a few business days.

It is essential to find out the correct IFSC code when transferring money online through payment modes like NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS. These payment methods are used for domestic transactions and are highly efficient.

West Bengal State Cooperative Bank (WBSTCB) MICR Code

The MICR code is printed on cheques using Magnetic Ink Character Recognition technology. This code is used to validate the authenticity of the instrument and speed up the electronic cheque clearing process called ECS.

The MICR code consists of 9 digits and is divided into three parts to denote the city, bank, and branch codes. However, unlike the West Bengal State Cooperative Bank IFSC Code, the MICR code is not needed for money transfers or used by account holders. It is used by the banks to ensure that the cheque is genuine.

Furthermore, all bank branches don't have a MICR code. Branches with no MICR codes are non-MICR branches and use a manual cheque clearing process. The West Bengal State Cooperative Bank MICR code is 700093006 for the Beliaghata branch.

Here's a breakdown of its MICR code:

  • 700 is the city code
  • 093 is the bank code
  • 006 is the branch code

Online modes of transferring money between bank accounts are convenient, fast, and hassle-free. Internet banking has made our lives easier in many ways. We can send money to a person straight from our net banking account. The same fun transferring services are available at the bank branch as well.

The three primary methods for online fund transfer within the country are NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS. Each of them has a different purpose (based on transaction limit, network, etc.) You can use either method to send money to another person if you know their bank account number and the IFSC code of the branch.

Let's read and find out more about the online find transfer methods in detail.

National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT)

NEFT is the most used online money transfer method for domestic transactions. It uses the DNS system (Deferred Net Settlement) to process the transactions in batches. NEFT is available throughout the year and at any time of the day. It works 24*7*365 and deposits the money to the beneficiary's account in around two hours.

The West Bengal State Cooperative Bank IFSC Code is compulsory to send money to an account in that bank. There isn't any minimum and maximum limit set on the amount though service charges (transaction fees) are applicable based on the amount sent per transaction.

You need the below details for an NEFT payment:

  • Beneficiary name
  • Beneficiary account number
  • Beneficiary bank name
  • Beneficiary bank branch's IFSC code
  • Your account number
  • The amount to be transferred

The NEFT transaction fee is as follows (inclusive of GST):

  • Rs. 4 for amounts up to Rs. 10,000/-
  • Rs. 7 for amounts between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 1,00,000/-
  • Rs. 18 for amounts between Rs. 1,00,000 and Rs. 2,00,000/-

Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS)

RTGS is a real-time and secure payment method used to send a large amount of money online. The transaction takes place in real-time, and the amount is credited immediately to the beneficiary's account. RTGS is more expensive than NEFT and irreversible.

There is a minimum limit of Rs. 2,00,000/- on RTGS transactions to keep the network free. Nonetheless, there is no maximum amount. It is used for heavy transactions and emergency payments. The transaction charges for RTGS are listed below.

  • Rs. 30 (inclusive of GST) for amounts between Rs. 2,00,000 and Rs. 5,00,000/-
  • Rs. 59 (inclusive of GST) for amounts more than Rs. 5,00,000/-

RTGS transactions require the following details:

  • The amount to be transferred
  • Beneficiary account number
  • Beneficiary bank name
  • Beneficiary bank branch's IFSC code
  • Beneficiary name
  • Your account number (to debit the amount)

Immediate Payment Service (IMPS)

Immediate Payment Service transfers funds instantly from one bank account to another located anywhere in the country. Similar to NEFT, it can be used 24*7 and even during holidays. IMPS facility can be used through net banking, mobile banking, SMS, and ATMs.

There is a minimum limit of Re. 1 and a maximum limit of Rs. 2,00,000/- for an IMPS transaction. The charges are decided by the individual banks. However, no bank can charge more than Rs. 25 (plus tax) as a transaction fee. You can make multiple IMPS transactions, depending on your requirements.

You require the same details as an NEFT transaction to initiate an IMPS payment. However, you can use either the IFSC code or the MMID. IMPS relies on a unique Mobile Money Identifier (MMID) number allotted by the bank to the account holder.

You need to register your mobile number and apply for MMID to use it during IMPS payments. Money can be transferred between accounts (using IFSC code) or from one mobile number to another (using MMID). The beneficiary's AADHAAR number is also necessary.
