The founding stone of GCCB was laid by Late Khansaheb Rustomji Ratanji Dalal in Gujarat in the presence of honorable members from all over Gujarat. To encourage the general public to be a part of this movement Rustomji bought 40 shares at a price of RS 1000 and at the same time a reasonable amount of funds was raised to start this bank. Hence, the bank started in the year 1927, 7 March. By the time it had its first meeting in the year 1925 on 5 March the general share of the bank was RS 2900 with 12 respected Board members. The prime purpose behind the foundation of the bank was to help the needy, small business and the servicemen and also to develop the city of Godhra.
